Cut

A diamond's cut determines how much light the stone reflects. From all of the 4Cs, Diamond Cut is often considered one its most important qualities.

The cut grade is evaluated within the range of:

  • Excellent
  • Very Good
  • Good
  • Fair
  • Poor

Carat

The word “Carat” originates from the carob seed, which was used as a reference for the weight of a Diamond. Today we measure a Diamond’s weight in carats.

One carat is equal to .2 grams, and is then divided into 100 points. This means that a half-carat, or .50 carat diamond is also known as a 50 points Diamond.

Clarity

Diamond clarity defines the purity and rarity of the stone. It measures the occurrences of imperfections found in Diamond

Diamond clarity is graded from range of Flawless to Included:

  • Flawless (FL)
  • Internally Flawless (IF)
  • Very Very Slight (VVS)
  • Very Slight (VS)
  • Slightly Included (SI)
  • Included (I)

Color

When we hear the word “Color”, we usually imagine shades of Colors. But, in the case of Diamonds, it means the complete opposite. Diamond color means lack of color.

Diamond color is categorized in the following color grades:

  • D, E and F: Colorless G,
  • H and I: Near Colorless
  • J, K and L: Slightly Tinted
  • M – R: Very Light Yellow
  • S – Y/Z: Light Yellow
